Political consultations held in Ankara between Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Türkiye

On July 28, bilateral political consultations took place in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, at the level of heads of structural divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Türkiye. The Turkmen delegation was led by Ishanguly Amanlyyev, Head of the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Turkish delegation was headed by Togan Oral, Director General for Central Asia and the Organization of Turkic States at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye. This was reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The sides discussed pressing matters concerning the steady expansion of political, diplomatic, inter-parliamentary, legal, and consular relations between the two states. During the meeting, it was particularly emphasized that high-level mutual visits and regular consultations between foreign policy agencies serve as the main driving force in elevating interstate cooperation to new heights.

Diplomats exchanged views on coordinating approaches and further fostering mutual support within international and regional organizations. Addressing the trade and economic domain, attention was drawn to the vital role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council, with emphasis placed on the need to advance joint projects in trade, transport, energy, and construction. Representatives of both countries reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the uninterrupted development of traditional collaboration in cultural, humanitarian, scientific, educational, sports, and healthcare fields.

As part of the visit, the Turkmen delegation also met with Ayşe Berris Ekinci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. During the discussion, the parties reaffirmed their strong interest in further strengthening Turkmen-Turkish relations and deliberated on promising avenues for bilateral development.
