On August 2, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan held a meeting to review the results of its work for January–July of the Year “Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses.” Participants discussed the progress made in improving national legislation in line with modern requirements, implementing the tasks set by the Head of State, and enhancing the effectiveness of parliamentary activities. The legislative body's press service reported on the meeting.
During the reporting period, amendments and additions were introduced to legislation related to the protection of citizens' rights, industrial safety, improvements in accounting and financial reporting, the licensing system, road infrastructure, environmental protection, conservation of aquatic biological resources, and the development of migration policy. In addition, seven laws of Turkmenistan were adopted, including the Law on establishing the jubilee medal “Participant of the Ceremonial Military Parade Dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence,” as well as 12 resolutions of the Mejlis.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and discussed the tasks arising from the UN’s adoption, at Turkmenistan’s initiative, of the resolution “2028 –Year of International Law.” Particular attention was paid to the active participation of deputies in preparing national and international events scheduled for 2026, especially those to be held in October in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
It was further noted that cooperation with foreign parliaments, international organizations, and diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, along with participation in training seminars and official visits abroad, contributes to improving legislative work. The meeting also emphasized the importance of explaining the content of newly adopted laws to the public and promoting the country’s achievements and international initiatives. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing efforts aimed at further strengthening the national parliamentary system.
