Turkmenistan and France discussed development of cooperation in the field of horse breeding

A meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the French Republic between Ambassador Maksat Charyyev and Alexandre Gros, national technical expert of the French Equestrian Federation. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, issues of training specialized professionals, exchanging international experience, as well as prospects for the development of Turkmen-French cooperation in the field of horse breeding were discussed.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the history of the Akhal-Teke breed in France, including Alexandre Gros's unique experience in training, in 1994, the Akhal-Teke stallion Gendjim, which was presented by Turkmenistan to the President of the French Republic François Mitterrand.

The parties also considered preparations for the World Equestrian Championship and the International Akhal-Teke Horse Beauty Contest, which will be held on September 4-6, 2026, in Kronenberg, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Alexandre Gros confirmed his readiness to speak at the international scientific conference within the framework of the championship with a report on the history of the Akhal-Teke breed in France.

In addition, the possibilities of establishing cooperation between theInternational Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annayev and French specialized institutions, training Turkmen coaches and instructors, as well as using advanced international experience in this field, were discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Alexandre Gros highly praised the work carried out by Turkmenistan for the preservation, development, and international promotion of the Akhal-Teke horse breed and expressed his readiness to assist in the further promotion of the country's national horse breeding heritage.
