The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a greeting message to the participants and guests of the scientific-practical conference titled 'Protection of the Ecosystem of the Caspian Sea: Regional Cooperation and Sustainable Development,' dedicated to Caspian Sea Day and the commencement of its work. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
In his message, the Head of State noted that this day, celebrated annually on August 12, is associated with the entry into force of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea. Stating that the ancient Caspian is recognized as a sea of peace, friendship, and good-neighborly cooperation, he drew attention to its invaluable status, rich biological diversity, and geopolitical importance. The greeting message also particularly emphasizes the significance of historical events held at the initiative of Turkmenistan. Our Honorable President highlighted that through the modern capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, our country has transformed into one of the key transport and logistics hubs between Europe and Asia. Furthermore, it was noted that due to ongoing global environmental changes, preserving the unique ecosystem and fauna of the Caspian Sea is one of the priority directions of Turkmenistan's state policy. The Caspian Ecological Initiative proposed by our country is aimed at carefully preserving this unique treasure for future generations.
At the end of his message, Arkadagly Hero Serdar wished great success to the work of the scientific-practical conference, and robust health and family well-being to its participants.
