Turkmenistan and Iran expand cooperation in equestrian sports

On August 15, a meeting took place between Ilyas Gaipov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Mahmoud Heydari, President of the Equestrian Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of equestrian sports, as well as on events held under the motto «Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses».

In this connection, the President of the Equestrian Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran was presented with a letter of invitation to take part in international events dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses, which will be held from September 4 to 6 in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Mahmoud Heydari expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the invitation and noted that presenting Turkmen Akhal-Teke horses on the world stage and developing equestrian sports are of special significance under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In addition, the Iranian side proposed exploring opportunities to establish cooperation between the Aba Annayev International Equestrian Academy and relevant institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as organizing joint equestrian competitions in Turkmenistan and Iran.
