Starting from August 2026, a system for the preliminary electronic exchange of information on goods and vehicles moved across the border between Turkmenistan and the Kazakhstan has entered into full operation. Data exchange via the digital system is carried out in accordance with an agreement reached between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Kazakhstan, as well as its Technical Specifications. This was reported by the Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The introduction of this system allows relevant information to be received and preliminary analysis to be conducted prior to the arrival of goods and vehicles at the country's customs territory. This enables customs authorities to prepare necessary procedures in advance.
This new digital opportunity provides major benefits for carriers and participants in foreign economic activity. It significantly reduces the time spent on customs operations, accelerates border clearance of goods, decreases paper documentation, and increases the efficiency of international freight transport.
Furthermore, the electronic exchange of information ensures the accuracy and reliability of mutual trade statistics between the two states. This step is of key importance for digitalizing customs service operations, accelerating export, import, and transit cargo flows, and strengthening trade and transport cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
