On August 19, a round table dedicated to the significance of the upcoming regular session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, as well as the United Nations General Assembly resolution "International Law Year, 2028," adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan, was held at the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in the city of Mashhad, Islamic Republic of Iran.

The event began with an exhibition tour. The exhibition featured books by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, works of decorative-applied and fine art, as well as photo materials reflecting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.

Representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, the magazines "Magtymguly adyndaky" and "Gülistan ykdysady," the information agencies "Ülkämiz" and "Sedaýe Gonbad," representatives of the culture and healthcare sectors, as well as staff members of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan took part in the round table.

During the event, it was noted that the upcoming regular session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, which will take place on September 23, 2026, in the city of Ashgabat on the eve of the country's 35th anniversary of Independence, will become an important socio-political platform for summarizing the successes achieved in the development of the domestic and foreign policy of independent and permanently neutral Turkmenistan, as well as for determining long-term priority directions for the country's further development.

Special attention during the round table was paid to the international initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to declare 2028 the Year of International Law. Participants were informed that the corresponding UN General Assembly resolution was adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan, co-authored by 78 states, which is evidence of broad international support for this initiative.

In their remarks, participants emphasized that the adoption of this resolution is of great importance in the context of strengthening international law, maintaining peace and security, and further developing constructive and equal multilateral cooperation.

The event concluded with an exchange of views on the further promotion of Turkmenistan's peace-loving initiatives and enhancing their international significance.
