Political and diplomatic dialogue between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan intensifies

On August 20, political consultations at the level of Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan took place in Ashgabat. Concurrently, a signing ceremony was held for the Cooperation Program between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries for 2027–2028, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the discussions, both sides addressed a wide range of bilateral agenda items, placing special emphasis on refining the mechanisms of political and diplomatic interaction. Highlighting effective partnership within the United Nations framework, the parties noted with satisfaction that Tajikistan co-authored over 30 resolutions adopted under Turkmenistan's international initiatives.

In the trade and economic domain, steady growth in bilateral trade volume was highlighted. Prospects for expanding cooperation across energy, transport and communications, agriculture, and investment were evaluated. It was noted that holding the 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, alongside the second meeting of the Business Council in Dushanbe, serves to bolster constructive partnership.

Consultations also covered cultural and humanitarian matters, outlining upcoming joint activities for the near future. Concluding the talks, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and strengthening friendly Turkmen-Tajik relations.
