On September 2, Turkmen-Azerbaijani consultations on consular matters were held in Ashgabat at the level of the heads of the consular services of the foreign ministries of the two countries. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed pressing issues of bilateral consular cooperation, the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the two states, as well as cooperation in the migration, legal and law enforcement spheres.

Particular attention was paid to issues of preventing cases of dual citizenship, the stay of citizens of Turkmenistan studying at higher education institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the further improvement of interaction between the competent authorities of the two countries.

The parties also considered the prospects for the further development of cooperation and exchange of experience between the migration services of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol of Consular Consultations, which reflects the main results of the exchange of views that took place and the agreements reached on the further development of consular cooperation.
