Mass sowing of winter wheat began in Turkmenistan on September 2. As previously reported, during the regular Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on August 28, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the start date of the sowing campaign. With the blessing of the Head of State, this important agricultural campaign began simultaneously in all velayats of Turkmenistan.
Following good folk tradition, honored elders offered a prayer to the Almighty for a generous and abundant harvest of «ak bugdaý» (white wheat) and gave the start to the sowing. Casting the first seeds of winter wheat into the well-prepared soil with the words «Her bir dänäň müň bolsun!» («May every grain multiply a thousandfold!»), the aksakals and their young helpers passed the symbolic baton of the sowing campaign on to the machine operators.
Turkmen farmers approached the start of this important campaign with particular care, having plowed and fertilized in a timely manner the land plots designated for next year's wheat harvest. High-quality seed material and agricultural machinery were prepared in advance for the sowing campaign.
On the occasion of the start of the sowing campaign, seminars were held in all regions, during which practical issues of carrying out the campaign were discussed. As noted, the use of modern agrotechnical methods and best practices in grain cultivation will undoubtedly help farmers carry out the sowing of this strategically important crop within the most favorable timeframe and with high quality.
Those gathered expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their constant concern for rural workers and the conditions created for a dignified life and labor for farmers, who make a significant contribution to the well-being and prosperity of the Motherland and to increasing food abundance in the country.
Exhibitions were also organized showcasing products manufactured by enterprises of the domestic agro-industrial complex, as well as specialized machinery available to the agricultural sector. On the occasion of the start of the sowing campaign, vocal-choreographic ensembles and folklore groups of the velayats prepared a diverse concert program.
