On September 2, a High-Level Forum on the implementation of the Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace, titled "Women's Leadership for the Advancement of a Culture of Peace," was held at UN Headquarters in New York. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was convened by the President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, pursuant to UN General Assembly resolution 80/294 "Follow-up to the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace."

The Forum was attended by heads of UN agencies, representatives of UNESCO, prominent international figures in the field of peacebuilding, as well as delegations of the Organization's member states.

During the plenary session, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, Vepa Hajiyev, spoke on behalf of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, as well as in a national capacity.

The statement noted the close interconnection between the culture of peace and the policy of neutrality, as reflected in UN General Assembly resolution 80/294 and the resolution 80/262 initiated by Turkmenistan, "The role and significance of the policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and the process of sustainable development."

Special attention in the statement was paid to expanding the participation of women in preventive diplomacy, peace negotiations and early warning mechanisms, as well as the need to support women mediators, peacebuilders and women-led organizations.

Turkmenistan's participation in the Forum was a continuation of the country's consistent work to promote a culture of peace and trust, preventive diplomacy, and the potential of neutrality as an effective tool for maintaining international peace and security within the UN platform.
