On September 6, an open meeting of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Association was held in the city of Kronenberg, Kingdom of the Netherlands. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero-Arkadag, addressed the meeting, expressing gratitude to the leadership of the Netherlands and the organizers for their warm hospitality toward the Turkmen delegation. He also emphasized the importance of the World Equestrian Championship and the Akhal-Teke Horse Beauty Contest in strengthening international cooperation. The event was reported by the «Turkmenistan: Golden Age» online newspaper.

In his address, the National Leader noted that Kronenberg had become the world capital of Akhal-Teke horse breeding for several days, bringing together horse breeders, breeders, scientists, and media representatives from many countries. On behalf of the Turkmen people, he also expressed appreciation to international partners contributing to the preservation and development of the Akhal-Teke breed.

It was noted that preserving the purity of the Akhal-Teke breed and promoting its development remain among the priorities of Turkmenistan’s state policy. Modern equestrian sports complexes have been established in all regions of the country, while the International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex in Ashgabat continues to develop as a scientific and research center. DNA testing, an electronic database, and a science-based breeding system have also been introduced.

The meeting highlighted the continued expansion of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Association, which now unites specialists from dozens of countries. The inclusion of the art of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and the traditions of horse decoration in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was cited as one of the field’s major international achievements.

The National Leader reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand international cooperation in the field of Akhal-Teke horse breeding. He noted that the country supports international projects in equestrian sports, scientific research, and culture, while actively participating in specialized events around the world.

Special attention was also given to the successful performances of Turkmen riders and the Galkynysh National Equestrian Games Group at international competitions and festivals held this year in Monte Carlo, Baku, Tashkent, Kazan, Windsor, and Istanbul, where they received prestigious awards and honorary titles.

The meeting concluded with the reaffirmation of Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with partners from around the world. Participants emphasized that the World Championship and the open meeting of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Association in Kronenberg are significant milestones in enhancing the international prestige of the Akhal-Teke horse.
