Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated on September 6 in the «Central Asia–China» Political Parties Dialogue held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan. The main goal of the dialogue was to support the implementation of agreements reached at the level of heads of state at the legislative and socio-political levels, as well as to further develop strategic cooperation within the “Central Asia — China” format. This was reported by the press service of the legislative body.
During the meeting on the topic “The Role of Political Parties in Strengthening Relations between Central Asia and China”, participants emphasized the important role of political parties in promoting mutual understanding between states, exchanging experience and developing multilateral cooperation.
In his speech, the representative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan noted that the country’s foreign policy, based on its legal status of permanent neutrality, is consistently developing with the states of the region and the People’s Republic of China on the principles of mutual respect, trust and equality. It was emphasized that the “Central Asia — China” format plays an important role in strengthening economic relations, developing transport and energy cooperation, and promoting joint initiatives. It was also highlighted that such meetings contribute to further strengthening friendly relations and mutual trust among peoples.
Participants of the dialogue noted that meetings of this kind provide opportunities to advance strategic cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the People’s Republic of China, discuss regional issues, exchange experience and expand mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
