Meeting Between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Deputy Secretary General of the CIS

On September 7, a meeting took place at the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Mukhammetdurdyev and Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Denis Trefilov.

The parties exchanged views on current issues of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Particular attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming events to be held within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS in 2026, which will take place in October of this year at the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone. The parties discussed organizational aspects and issues of cooperation in preparing for these events.

Other current agenda issues of mutual interest were also considered.

The following day, a signing ceremony for the Protocol on Coordination of Issues Related to the Preparation of the Meetings of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat. These meetings will be held on October 7 and 9, 2026, at the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone. The document is aimed at ensuring coordination of the organizational and substantive aspects of the upcoming meetings held within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS in 2026.
