As part of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea, the opening ceremony of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan was held in Gwangju on September 16. The event, organized at the National Asian Culture Center, was attended by heads of the cultural sectors of the two countries, representatives of relevant institutions, art figures and numerous guests. The participation of cultural and artistic figures as part of the Turkmen delegation visiting the Republic of Korea demonstrates the special importance attached by Turkmenistan to the comprehensive development of friendly relations with foreign states in all areas. The Days of Culture are aimed at further strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, based on mutual respect, trust and national values.
Within the framework of the event, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the ministries of culture and relevant organizations of the two countries. The participants exchanged views on the development of Turkmen-Korean cultural relations, expanding creative exchanges and implementing joint projects. The sides emphasized the important role of international festivals, exhibitions, scientific conferences and cultural events in strengthening friendship between peoples.
During the state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea, documents aimed at developing cooperation in the cultural sphere were also signed. Among them is the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Cultural Center of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the National Asian Culture Center of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea on cooperation in cultural exchange. It was noted that this document would contribute to bringing interaction between the cultural centers of the two countries to a new level.
The opening ceremony of the Days of Culture featured a concert by masters of Turkmen art. An exhibition was also organized, presenting examples of national decorative and applied arts, museum treasures, works by artists and sculptors, as well as traditional national costumes. The exhibition provided Korean visitors with an opportunity to become more familiar with the rich historical and cultural heritage and unique traditions of the Turkmen people.
The speakers at the ceremony noted that Turkmenistan, through cultural diplomacy, promotes friendly relations and humanitarian cooperation with countries around the world. The expansion of Turkmen-Korean cultural ties contributes to strengthening mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples.
The concert programme featuring singers, musicians and dance groups made a great impression on the audience. The combination of Turkmen national music, contemporary musical art and folklore traditions gave the event a special atmosphere.
Ancient and modern musical compositions, national dances and folklore performances were warmly welcomed by Korean spectators.
