Meeting of the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Belarus held in Awaza

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in high-level events held in the national tourist zone “Awaza”. The sides discussed opportunities for developing cooperation in trade and economy, transport, oil and gas, as well as cultural and humanitarian areas. The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

The Head of State warmly welcomed the Belarusian leader and noted the importance of his visit to Turkmenistan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Belarus are based on the principles of equality, trust and mutual respect, highlighting the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation and interaction within international organisations.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasised the importance of holding the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Awaza. He also highly praised the contribution of Turkmenistan and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, to the development of cooperation within the Commonwealth.
