On October 10, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Hero of Turkmenistan and of the Russian Federation, Director of the federal state budgetary institution «Yuri Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Center», Commander of the Cosmonaut Detachment Oleg Kononenko. The guest took part in the celebrations organized on the occasion of Health and Medical Industry Workers’ Day, which is widely celebrated in our country.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the invitation to the holiday and the warm welcome, Oleg Kononenko noted that he always comes to Turkmenistan with great joy and excitement, as it is where he was born and grew up, and also stressed that he is infinitely proud of the achievements of his historical Homeland, a country of happiness and prosperity.
During the conversation, held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Hero-Arkadag touched on questions of space exploration and the use of its potential for the further development of Turkmenistan’s economic complex and key areas of national science. In this context, special attention was paid to the topic of involving Turkmen youth in cooperation in this field and in mastering space science.
As was noted, Turkmenistan, widely adopting advanced world experience in the study of outer space, attaches great importance to establishing constructive international partnership. The launch into orbit of the first national artificial satellite opens favorable opportunities for stepping up interaction in this area.
Noting that the words of the Hero-Arkadag about supporting Turkmen youth’s interest in space and their mastery of advanced engineering specialties inspire a feeling of sincere enthusiasm and pride, Oleg Kononenko assured that for his part he would make every necessary effort toward this. “It is a great honor for me to make a worthy contribution to the implementation of initiatives of historic significance on my native land,” the guest stressed.
The Hero-Arkadag and Hero of Turkmenistan and of the Russian Federation, cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko noted the broad prospects for the active participation of our country, moving toward the heights of progress with the swiftness of an Akhal-Teke steed, in the exploration of outer space. This is yet another confirmation that the steady socio-economic development of the Homeland is based on modern advanced technologies.
