On the instructions of Esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova received credentials on November 2 from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Turkmenistan Etienne Berchtold. This was reported by the press service of the legislative body.

On behalf of the Head of State, the head of the national Parliament congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to the high position and wished him success in his responsible work aimed at developing friendly relations. Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings from the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, to the President of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, it was emphasized that the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Austria was an important step in intensifying interstate cooperation. The diplomat was briefed in detail on Turkmenistan's peaceful foreign policy, the structure of Parliament, and the ongoing work to improve the country's legislative framework.

The parties stressed the expediency of further strengthening cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and inter-parliamentary spheres.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Etienne Berchtold noted that it is a great honor to represent his country in Turkmenistan and assured that he would make every effort to bring relations between the two states to a new level.
