On November 2, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who arrived in the country on a working visit. The parties discussed the current state of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation and prospects for its further development. The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported this.

The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag. President Berdimuhamedov thanked him for the kind words, extended his best wishes to the Iranian President, and expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that one of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is to expand cooperation with neighboring countries based on friendship, good-neighborliness, and mutual respect. It was also noted that the historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between the Turkmen and Iranian peoples provide a solid foundation for the continued development of bilateral political and diplomatic relations.

President Berdimuhamedov noted that President Masoud Pezeshkian’s participation in the CIS Heads of State Council meeting and the Caspian Environmental Summit, held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in October this year, gave fresh momentum to bilateral dialogue. For his part, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi highlighted the importance of the international events held in Avaza for promoting regional cooperation.

The meeting also underscored that Iran remains one of Turkmenistan’s key trade and economic partners, while cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries continues to develop successfully.
