On Friday, during a regular government meeting, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers M. Chakyev made a report on the formation of the Turkmen composition of the Turkmen-Uzbek Commission for the Development of Transport and Transit Communication.
The head of the Agency announced information about the measures being taken to increase trade turnover between the two states and the effective use of the transport and transit potential of Turkmenistan. According to the data presented in the report, in the first nine months of this year, international rail freight traffic amounted to 6,1 million tons, and the export and import of goods with Uzbekistan reached 885,6 thousand tons.
M. Chakyev also reported on the results of the 16th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation. As a result of this meeting, the Turkmen-Uzbek commission for the development of transport and transit communications was created.
The composition of the commission was presented by M. Chakyev for consideration by the President of Turkmenistan.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the successes in the development of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The agreements reached, including during the recent visit of the head of state to Uzbekistan, are designed to bring political, trade, economic and cultural relations between the two neighboring states to a fundamentally new level.
