On January 29, 2026, another round of Turkmen-Russian political consultations took place in Ashgabat with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mihail Galuzin.
During the negotiations, it was noted with satisfaction that Turkmen-Russian cooperation is developing effectively not only in a bilateral but also in a multilateral format, as clearly evidenced by constructive interaction within the framework of the UN and CIS. The importance of partnership in the "Central Asia-Russia" format was also emphasized.
The diplomats confirmed their interest in strengthening dialogue between the foreign policy departments of the two countries in accordance with the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2025-2026.
The sides also considered issues of regional security and stability.
