On February 24, Tbilisi hosted a meeting between Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova and President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili.
During the meeting, the Speaker conveyed greetings and best wishes to the Georgian people on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Turkmen side noted that friendly relations between the two countries in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres have been actively developing over many years, including through mutual support of each other's initiatives within international organizations.
The parties emphasized the significant role of cooperation in the field of international law in furthering broad, equal and mutually beneficial relations between the two states, as well as the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening friendship between the two peoples.
It was also noted that agreements reached during bilateral visits and meetings, as well as jointly signed documents, provide strong momentum for the development of relations across various fields. Expanding cooperation in energy, transport and logistics, and industry — including the introduction of new technologies — was highlighted as having a positive impact on economic development.
The meeting concluded with confidence expressed that Turkmen-Georgian relations and cooperation will reach new heights in the future.
