On February 2, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting featuring Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyev and the governors (hyakims) of the provinces (velayats). The meeting focused on the development of the agricultural sector and the progress of ongoing regional activities.
The governors of Akhal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap, and Mary provinces reported on the pace of seasonal agricultural campaigns. It was noted that wheat fields are currently being tended to in accordance with agro-technical standards, specifically through the application of mineral fertilizers. In areas designated for cotton, land leveling and harrowing are underway, alongside the preparation of seeds and machinery for the upcoming spring sowing season.
Furthermore, the governors reported on measures taken to ensure the proper functioning of heating systems in residential buildings and socio-cultural facilities during the winter period. They also updated on the uninterrupted supply of electricity, natural gas, and drinking water to the population, as well as the progress of construction projects scheduled for commissioning this year.
After hearing the reports, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the current seasonal campaigns. In this regard, he ordered the continuation of plowing and leveling of cotton fields across the regions and instructed that leaching irrigation be conducted in the Lebap province according to agro-technical norms. He also stressed the need to provide cotton producers with high-quality seeds in a timely and full manner. Additionally, the President directed that the sugar beet harvest in the Mary province be kept under strict control, and that settlements between wheat/cotton producers and service departments be finalized for work performed.
At the same time, instructions were given to prioritize the proper functioning of heating systems in homes, schools, and kindergartens, as well as the stable supply of electricity, gas, and water to the citizens.
