Briefing on cooperation with FAO held in Turkmenistan

A briefing on cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on February 5, 2026.

Presentations were delivered by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova and, via videoconference, Deputy Director-General of FAO and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia Viorel Gutu.

During the event, detailed information was presented on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and FAO, key results and priority areas for further interaction.

Information was shared about the successful completion of the Country Framework Programme for Cooperation 2021–2025, under which projects were implemented in the areas of agricultural digitalization, increasing resilience of food systems, rational use of land and water resources, introduction of nature-friendly technologies, and support for farms.

It was noted that work is currently underway on a new Country Framework Programme for Cooperation 2026–2030.
