President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting of the State Security Council on February 14, during which the results of the work of military and law enforcement agencies for January of the current year were summarized. Issues related to ensuring security and tranquility in our independent state, strengthening the material and technical base of security agencies, and further improvement of their activities were also considered.
Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of Defense Begench Gundogdyyev reported on the work carried out during the period under review to fulfill the tasks defined in the Development Program of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan. Along with this, a report was presented on facilities for official and social purposes commissioned on the occasion of Defenders of the Fatherland Day, including a new complex of buildings and structures of military units of the country's Armed Forces built in Lebap velayat.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of continuing to take measures to train military personnel of the country's Armed Forces, as well as continuing work to strengthen the material and technical base of the National Army and improve the social and living conditions of military personnel. In this regard, the Secretary of the State Security Council and Minister of Defense was given a number of specific instructions. During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed corresponding decrees, relieving Major General Nazar Atagarayev from the position of Minister of National Security in connection with his transfer to other work and appointing Major General Dovletgeldi Meredov to this position.
The head of state also heard reports from the heads of military and law enforcement agencies on the results of work carried out in January 2026 in their respective structures, in connection with which he gave them specific instructions and assignments.
At the meeting of the State Security Council, a number of other issues were also considered, on which appropriate decisions were made.
