Speaker of Turkmenistan's Mejlis Held a Meeting in Tbilisi with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia

A Turkmen delegation led by Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dünýagözel Gulmanova is paying a two-day official visit to Georgia.

On February 23, a meeting of representatives of the legislative bodies of Turkmenistan and Georgia was held in the Parliament of Georgia, chaired by Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D. Gulmanova and Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Sh. Papuashvili.

During the meeting, the dynamic nature of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries was emphasized, the significant role of visits at the high parliamentary level was noted, as well as the importance of annual meetings of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.

The parties discussed legislative initiatives and prospects for joint projects. Special attention was paid to improving the work of friendship groups, exchanging experience and strengthening interaction between relevant committees, as well as creating conditions for regular and effective dialogue.

The meeting placed particular importance on establishing contacts between the Group of Young Parliamentarians of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and young parliamentarians of the Parliament of Georgia, as well as developing cooperation between women parliamentarians. The parties also declared their readiness to continue the practice of mutual support for initiatives put forward within international organizations.

Following the meeting, an Agreement on Cooperation between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Parliament of Georgia was signed.
