A meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan with a visiting delegation headed by Edvardas Bumšteinas, Head of the European Investment Bank’s Department for Asia, Central Asia, and the Pacific Region.
The purpose of the delegation’s planned two-day visit to the country is to conduct final negotiations on the draft Framework Agreement between Turkmenistan and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
It was emphasized that during the past and current years, the Ministry has been reviewing the draft Framework Agreement with the EIB, presenting its positions on the document. In this regard, confidence was expressed that the delegation’s current visit will allow for the finalization of the Agreement’s text.
It was also noted that cooperation with the EIB includes a number of areas that are priorities for Turkmenistan. One of these is collaboration in the transport sector, particularly in financing the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor. In addition, measures are currently being taken within the framework of the CAREC Program to implement the Roadmap for the digitalization of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
Another area of cooperation with the EIB is the digital sector. In this context, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan attaches special importance to digital transformation as a strategic vector of state policy. Projects in the energy and water sectors are also considered important investment directions.
The parties agreed to maintain effective cooperation in the aforementioned areas.
