The 14th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation was held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on March 3-4. A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atahallyyev, was visiting the friendly country to participate in the event.
The meeting began on March 3, 2026, and was chaired by the Co-Chairs of the Commission – Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sulaimon Ziyozoda and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atahallyyev. Representatives of ministries and agencies from both sides also participated.
During the meeting, the implementation of the agreements reached at the 13th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in Ashgabat in 2024, was discussed.
The parties reviewed important issues in bilateral relations, including the current state and prospects of trade and economic cooperation, the intensification of mutual trade, and the development of cooperation in transport and communications, energy and water resources, industry and construction, agriculture, education and science, healthcare, the medical industry, civil aviation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, youth policy, and sports, as well as the further expansion of the legal framework for mutual relations.
Trade turnover between the countries in 2025 amounted to $43.1 million, an increase of 17.1% compared to 2024.
Confidence was expressed that the parties will continue to expand trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.
On March 4, the Protocol of the Fourteenth Meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation was signed.
