Banking activities being improved in Turkmenistan

On 30 January, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported at a Government meeting on the ongoing work to improve banking activities in the country.

As reported, in order to implement the measures outlined in the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028, practical steps are being taken to develop financial technologies and introduce information and communication systems into the banking sector.

Reporting on the activities carried out to address the tasks arising from the Concept, in particular regarding the modernization of the material and technical base of the Central Bank, the State Commercial Bank Türkmenistan, and the Joint-Stock Commercial Bank Türkmenbaşy, the Deputy Prime Minister submitted a relevant proposal for the consideration of the Head of State.

Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that effective work is being carried out in the country to implement modern information and communication systems in the banking sector. Approving the proposal on further improving the material and technical base of the relevant banks, the Head of State instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to take the necessary measures.
