On March 12, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow), John William Geering. During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country, the parties discussed the current state and development prospects of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Australia.
In particular, special attention was paid to the issues of strengthening political and diplomatic dialogue, as well as expanding cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The interlocutors also exchanged views on important issues of the international and regional agenda. In this regard, the current situation in the Middle East was touched upon, emphasizing the importance of joining efforts to ensure peace, security, and stability in the region.
Ambassador John William Geering expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the support provided in ensuring the transit of Australian citizens arriving from Iran.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue a constructive dialogue aimed at further strengthening friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Australia.
