On March 17, 2026, in Ashgabat, a meeting took place between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ambassador Kairat Sarybay.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and CICA. Particular attention was given to the development of regional and interregional interaction, including in Central Asia, as well as Turkmenistan’s initiatives to establish a permanent forum on security, peace, and development in the region.
Prospective areas of cooperation were considered, including the development of dialogue between CICA and the Group of Friends of Neutrality, collaboration in energy, transport, and environmental sectors, as well as the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
The importance of consolidating efforts to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan and cooperating in the field of food security was emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further developing partnership within CICA in the interests of sustainable peace and development.
