During a friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, to China, an official meeting was held with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
President Xi Jinping warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, expressed his appreciation to Hero-Arkadag for accepting the invitation, and noted that this visit is regarded in China as a vivid symbol of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
As noted during the meeting, the two countries coordinate their efforts within the framework of respected international organizations such as the UN and through the “Central Asia – China” format. Relations between Turkmenistan and China are advancing to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership, enriched with new content. This cooperation spans a wide range of areas, including foreign policy, economy and trade, culture, science, and education. In recent years, relations between political parties and inter-parliamentary dialogue have also been expanding.
President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives within the UN aimed at strengthening universal peace and ensuring sustainable development, highlighting that China consistently supports these proposals.
The fuel and energy sector remains one of the priority areas of cooperation. In this context, Hero-Arkadag underscored the significance of joint projects for the development of the "Galkynyş" gas field. Considering the positive experience achieved in gas-sector collaboration, discussions were held on opportunities for further joint work at the country’s largest gas field.
During the meeting, Hero-Arkadag presented President Xi Jinping with an invitation from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Turkmenistan at a time convenient for him.
