Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova met with Ms. Florence Bauer, Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Ms. Chinwe Ogbonna, UNFPA Country Director for Turkmenistan. During the meeting held on March 27 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNFPA was noted.
Special importance was given during the conversation to the implementation of the UNFPA Country Program for Turkmenistan for 2026–2030, as well as cooperation in the areas of reproductive and maternal health protection, promotion of gender equality, and the formation of healthy social norms among youth.
The parties noted the successful implementation of the National Action Plan on Gender Equality for 2021–2025 and discussed the development of the next phase of this plan for 2026–2030.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in further developing the partnership and confirmed their readiness to implement joint projects within the framework of the new Country Program.
