Representatives of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan discussed increasing freight transport volumes

On Wednesday in Baku, during a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyyev, and the Chairman of "Azerbaijan Railways" CJSC, Rovshan Rustamov, issues related to modernizing the infrastructure of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport through dredging works and increasing the volume of cargo transportation through the port were discussed. This was reported by the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen delegation was provided with information about the development of the Baku Port, including projects implemented after its integration with Azerbaijan's railway system. The strategic importance of the port in ensuring multimodal transportation along the Trans-Caspian route was particularly emphasized.
During the meeting, the parties noted the importance of implementing digital data exchange to strengthen coordination between the railway infrastructures and seaports of the two countries.
In the course of the conversation, the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the field of multimodal transportation within the framework of the development of the Trans-Caspian route and the Eurasian transport corridor, as well as issues of increasing cargo transportation volumes along the East – West – East route, were also discussed.
