On April 17, Turkmenistan launched the fourth phase of development of the «Galkynyş» gas field. According to the newspaper «Нейтральный Туркменистан», a ceremonial event marking the start of drilling new wells and construction of a natural gas processing facility was held at the field.

The project is aimed at increasing production volumes and strengthening the country’s export potential, primarily in the Chinese direction. It provides for the creation of capacities enabling the additional processing of up to 10 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year.

In addition, the implementation of the initiative will create new jobs, expand the capabilities of the fuel and energy complex, and further strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the gas sector.
