On May 8, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to the Balkan velayat, during which he took part in the official commissioning ceremony of the new cargo vessel «Gadamly», built at «Balkan» Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant in the city of Turkmenbashi. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

First of all, the Head of State warmly congratulated all participants of the ceremony on the commissioning of the new cargo vessel «Gadamly».

The President noted that Turkmenistan plays a key role in the development of transnational transport and transit corridors along the East–West and North–South routes. In this regard, a powerful transport and logistics system has been formed in the country, including new railway and highway networks, modern international airports, and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

During his speech, Hero-Arkadag Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the vessel «Gadamly» is intended for dry cargo transportation. Its carrying capacity is 6,100 tons. Equipped with modern technologies, the vessel is capable of transporting 240 containers of 20 tons each. The shipbuilding project was successfully implemented by domestic specialists in cooperation with Korean partners.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sincerely congratulated everyone on the commissioning of the «Gadamly» cargo vessel and wished employees and specialists of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan strong health, family well-being, and great success in their work.

Afterwards, the floor was given to Choi Young-Wook, President of the company «Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology» (Republic of Korea), who participated in the ceremony marking this historic event.

It was noted that the construction of the new cargo vessel is a vivid result of joint efforts. It demonstrates that the enterprise, which is one of the main structures of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, has gained the capacity to build modern cargo vessels capable of performing international transport operations.

The head of the company then presented the «Balkan» Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant with special international certificates for advanced engineering solutions and high-quality installation work in the construction of the new vessel.

Afterwards, the ship’s captain addressed the President with a request to bless the commissioning of the vessel «Gadamly». With the blessing of Hero-Arkadag Serdar, the captain pressed a special button to activate the main engine of the vessel. The ship’s horn, sounding in accordance with maritime tradition, symbolized the continuation of centuries-old customs in a modern spirit.
