On May 12, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marikan, Chairman of the International Advisory Panel to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The guest conveyed warm greetings from Malaysia's top leadership and congratulated on the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and "PETRONAS." Hero-Arkadag noted the significance of this visit in bringing bilateral relations to a new level and extended his best wishes to the guest and the leaders of Malaysia. During the conversation, the parties noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of relations in strategic sectors such as economy, trade, transport, and energy.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the fuel and energy complex. The National Leader emphasized that "PETRONAS" is a reliable partner in developing the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and training highly qualified specialists. It was also mentioned that a scientific-practical conference and an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary are planned as part of the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to the country.
The Malaysian representative, for his part, expressed gratitude for the created conditions and confirmed the company's strong interest in participating in projects for the development of the giant "Galkynysh" gas field. Hero-Arkadag emphasized the importance of expanding partnership in this area, not only in the upstream sector but also through new projects in the gas chemical industry.
As part of the visit, a Protocol on commercial terms was signed between the "Türkmennebit" State Concern and "PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd." Additionally, it was noted that a Production Sharing Agreement is planned to be signed in the future.
The parties discussed relations in the educational and humanitarian spheres, including the education of Turkmen students in Malaysia. At the end of the meeting, confidence was expressed in the further development of cooperation in digital technologies, energy-saving systems, and environmental safety.
