On May 13, a National Leader of the Turkmen people, a Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, arrived in the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, where he held talks with the Rais of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, as reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».
The interlocutors paid special attention to the effectiveness of joint projects being implemented in various fields. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of expanding the scope of cooperation. It was noted that regular high-level visits and negotiations give a strong impetus to identifying new areas of partnership.
Following the one-on-one meeting, official talks were held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the Rais of Tatarstan with the participation of members of both delegations.
An XVII International Economic Forum «Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum–2026», currently taking place, clearly demonstrates the steadily growing international authority of Tatarstan, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan said, warmly congratulating Rustam Minnikhanov and the people of the friendly country on Kazan being declared the cultural capital of the Islamic world this year and wishing the forum success.
The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan noted that Turkmenistan traditionally takes an active part in such forums. A clear confirmation of this is Turkmenistan’s participation in the current forum with a national pavilion.
Particular attention was also paid to cooperation in such promising areas as digitalization and high technologies. The experience of Tatarstan as one of Russia’s IT leaders is of great interest to our country, the Hero-Arkadag said, highly appreciating the established cooperation in the field of technoparks and the introduction of digital solutions into the economy.
In addition, speaking about the need to further strengthen direct contacts between educational institutions of the two countries, the Hero-Arkadag expressed the advisability of holding the final of a «Tatar kyzy — 2026» contest in Ashgabat.
Minnikhanov, noting the importance of bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation, stated that he supported this proposal of the Hero-Arkadag.
