Turkmenistan and the United States discuss strengthening trade and economic partnership

On 27 May 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Washington, D.C., according to a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues and prospects for further development of Turkmen-American cooperation in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, educational, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas of mutual interest.

Particular attention was given to strengthening trade and economic partnership and expanding contacts with U.S. business circles.

The parties also exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming visit of a delegation from the U.S.–Turkmenistan Business Council to Turkmenistan, as well as the next round of annual bilateral consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the U.S. Department of State, which is planned to take place in Ashgabat.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue regular dialogue aimed at further strengthening the mutually beneficial partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States.
