On May 31, Ashgabat hosted a carpet and carpet goods exhibition as well as the 26th Session of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs, held in celebration of a Turkmen Carpet Holiday, which is annually observed on the last Sunday of May. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

The National Museum of the Turkmen Carpet served as the main venue for the capital's festive celebrations. The museum hosted an exhibition of both classical and contemporary original works of national carpet art.

The display featured magnificent carpets and carpet goods created by craftswomen at enterprises of the State association «Türkmenhaly» and in private workshops. Among the exhibits were traditional carpets with classical güls, as well as items of various shapes and decorative designs, including new artistic works recreated from reproductions of ancient Turkmen pieces.

In the afternoon, the 26th Session of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs took place in the conference hall of the State association «Türkmenhaly».

In their addresses, foreign guests emphasized that Turkmen carpets impress with their distinctive appearance and the uniqueness of their patterns, with the ornamental motifs reflecting the national characteristics of the culture and ancient carpet-weaving traditions. It was also noted that Turkmenistan's efforts to preserve this art form can serve as a universal example.
