An Artificial intelligence technology introduced in the Customs System of Turkmenistan

The opportunity to use artificial intelligence technology has been launched on the "Single Window for Export-Import Operations" web portal (tradebridge.gov.tm) of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. Through this innovation, which came into effect on June 1, 2026, the automatic determination of codes for exported and imported goods according to the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity has been established. Furthermore, users of the system can now obtain preliminary information regarding the necessary permissive documents and customs duty rates. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

This modern project was implemented jointly with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The new system, developed on the basis of the agreement between the parties on "Developing Regional Connectivity through Digitalization of Customs Operations and Creating 'Smart' Customs", was launched in real-time mode. The artificial intelligence services operating on the portal function seamlessly in Turkmen, Russian, and English languages.

The integration of the new artificial intelligence technology into customs operations will significantly simplify the classification of goods. This will create favorable conditions for shortening the timeframes of customs clearance, maintaining more precise foreign trade reports and statistics, and ensuring the correct calculation of customs payments. This step, which expands the scope of digital customs services, is aimed at providing modern information support to participants in foreign economic activity and increasing the efficiency of ongoing reforms to digitalize the sector.
