Ashgabat marks the 30th anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty

On June 8, 2026, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a high-level regional meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Opening the meeting, a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova emphasized that the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty has established a solid international norm prohibiting nuclear testing, strengthened the climate of trust among states, and made a vital contribution to ensuring global stability.
In her address, Mahri Bashimova noted that Turkmenistan consistently supports international efforts aimed at strengthening global security, peace, and trust, and advocates for the further promotion of initiatives in the field of disarmament and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
For his part, the Executive Secretary of the CTBTO, Robert Floyd, expressed his gratitude to Turkmenistan for its unwavering commitment to the principles of peace, security, and multilateral cooperation.
During the event, an exchange of views took place on the further promotion of the goals and principles of the CTBT, the strengthening of regional and international cooperation in disarmament, and raising awareness within the international community regarding the importance of the Treaty's early entry into force.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation in order to ensure sustainable peace, security, and stability at both global and regional levels.
