A panel discussion titled «The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty at 30: Past, Present and Future Perspectives» was held at an Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the treaty's opening for signature. The meeting addressed the treaty's outcomes, its relevance in today's world, and the role of youth in nuclear non-proliferation processes. This was reported by the International Information Centre of Turkmenistan.
A Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova attended the discussion as an honorary guest. Also present were Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, political scientists, young diplomats, and students from Central Asian universities.
Participants examined issues related to engaging the new generation in international security. Students and young activists from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan presented reports on a world free of nuclear testing and proposed ideas for promoting non-proliferation among youth. Following the discussion, experts compiled a list of recommendations based on youth initiatives.
