On June 22, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, Begench Durdyev, met with the Vice President of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Lee Sang-joon, in Seoul. This was reported by the International Information Center of Turkmenistan.
The sides discussed promising areas for developing trade and economic relations between the two countries and implementing new joint projects. The main focus of the conversation was the organization of economic events within the framework of the first "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" summit, which will be held in September this year.
Lee Sang-joon emphasized that the Republic of Korea views Turkmenistan as a strategic partner with vast resource potential and shows great interest in strengthening relations with the region. Energy, petrochemicals, modernization of transport infrastructure, urban development, and "smart city" technologies were highlighted among the promising areas for joint cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue close cooperation to ensure the successful completion of all events planned for the September summit.
