Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Discuss Creation of «Industrial-Technological Belt» and Supreme Council

On July 25, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the talk, the leaders put forward key initiatives aimed at taking the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People proposed to begin developing the «Industrial-Technological Belt» project, which envisages setting up joint enterprises and high-tech centers to produce competitive, export-oriented goods. He also highlighted the expediency of constructing a transport and logistics center on the border of the two states as part of the «East–West» transit corridor.

To effectively implement these directions and coordinate interstate cooperation, it was proposed to establish the «Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan» Supreme Council.
