Iran Discussed Issues of Environmental Protection of the Caspian Sea

On August 11, the Department of Environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran held a conference dedicated to Caspian Sea Day.

The event was attended by the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Department of Environment, Shina Ansari, senior representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Majlis, ambassadors of the Caspian littoral states accredited in Tehran, as well as the governors of the provinces of Golestan and Gilan.

During the conference, participants exchanged views on pressing issues related to environmental protection and the preservation of the ecological state of the Caspian Sea.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan noted that issues related to the Caspian Sea occupy an important place on the foreign policy agenda of Turkmenistan under the leadership of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan consistently advocates for the development of international cooperation in the field of environmental protection of the Caspian Sea and the further strengthening of constructive interaction among the Caspian littoral states, including within the framework of the United Nations.

In this regard, particular attention was paid to the upcoming meeting of heads of state dedicated to environmental issues of the Caspian Sea, scheduled to take place on October 9, 2026, in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone.

It was noted that holding this meeting in Avaza is a timely and significant initiative that meets the current objectives of ensuring environmental security and sustainable development of the Caspian region. Confidence was expressed that the meeting would serve as an effective platform for constructive discussion on the preservation and rational use of the natural potential of the Caspian Sea.

In conclusion, gratitude was expressed to the Government of Turkmenistan for its initiative in organizing this important international meeting.
