President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated dog breeders, connoisseurs of Turkmen alabaýs, and the entire Turkmen people on the Day of Turkmen Alabaý, which is solemnly celebrated in the year «Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses».

The Head of State called the Turkmen alabaý one of the oldest breeds in the world, the property of the people, and a part of the national heritage. According to Arkadagly Hero-Serdar, large-scale work is being carried out in Turkmenistan to breed alabays, popularize them worldwide, and systematically develop the dog breeding industry.

As President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, all opportunities are being created to improve the national art of dog breeding. To develop this sphere, the International Association «Türkmen alabaý itleri» has been established, within the structure of which conditions have been provided for holding international competitions of Turkmen alabaýs. Specialists are being trained. Centers for Turkmen alabaýs meeting international standards have been built in all regions and the city of Ashgabat.

Every year, in honor of the Day of Turkmen Alabaý, various competitions are organized in Turkmenistan, including for the title of «Ýylyň türkmen edermen alabaýy». Dog breeders, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar emphasized, are working to preserve the purity of the breed, increase its numbers, and popularize it worldwide. The Head of State stated that priority attention will continue to be paid to the development of dog breeding, establishing mutually beneficial international cooperation in this area, exchanging experience, and improving the living and working conditions of domestic dog breeders.

The Message also mentions the historical decision adopted in December 2025 in New Delhi (Republic of India) at the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO): the nomination «The Art of Turkmen Alabaý Breeding» was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The President Serdar Berdimuhamedov called this a clear confirmation of the broad international recognition of the centuries-old national values, rich cultural heritage, and ancient dog-breeding traditions of the Turkmen people.

Arkadagly Hero-Serdar noted that the Turkmen alabaýs, bred by ancestors over the centuries with careful preservation of the breed's purity, have become the property of humanity and are recognized as some of the best on Earth. The friendly disposition and devotion of the alabaý, according to the Head of State, are vividly extolled in classical works.

Concluding the Message, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished dog breeders, connoisseurs of Turkmen alabaýs, and the entire Turkmen people good health, family well-being, and great success in their work to further develop and improve the Turkmen art of dog breeding.
