President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting on February 9th with participation of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyyev and velayat hakims, at which issues of agricultural complex development and progress of work in the country's regions were considered.
The hakims of Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary velayats reported on the pace of ongoing seasonal agricultural campaigns in the regions.
As reported, appropriate care is currently being carried out on wheat fields of the velayats, in particular, fertilization with mineral fertilizers. On areas allocated for cotton, work is being performed on land leveling and harrowing. Preparation of seeds for raw material producers and adjustment of agricultural machinery that will be used in spring sowing are also underway. At the same time, appropriate measures are being taken to prepare areas, seeds of potatoes and vegetable-melon crops for the spring sowing season.
The hakims also reported on the status of construction work at facilities whose opening is planned in the velayats in the current year.
After hearing the reports, the President of Turkmenistan again emphasized the importance of current agricultural campaigns. In this regard, the head of state gave instructions on proper implementation, in accordance with agrotechnical norms, of work on leveling and harrowing land in areas allocated for cotton, washing irrigation in Lebap velayat, and timely provision in sufficient volume of high-quality seed material to cotton producers.
In addition, the head of state ordered to keep under strict control the harvesting of sugar beet crops grown in Mary velayat, as well as the implementation of settlements between wheat and cotton producers in the regions and servicing departments and enterprises for work performed.
