The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on receiving the World Health Organization’s special award “For Contribution to the Promotion of Peace, Unity, and Diplomacy in Healthcare.”
“Being awarded by the World Health Organization at a time when rapid achievements are being made across the homeland is a high recognition of the work carried out under your leadership in the field of domestic healthcare, as well as Turkmenistan’s international initiatives in advancing medical diplomacy. With the new vectors of cooperation in medical and scientific diplomacy proposed by you, partnerships with specialized UN bodies, including the World Health Organization, are actively developing in the country,” noted Hero Arkadag.
“The long-standing positive experience of cooperation with the World Health Organization and UN structural units confirms the successful implementation of a number of joint projects and programs across various areas of the national healthcare system. In the field of public health, Turkmenistan has been awarded international certificates for the complete eradication of several dangerous infectious diseases, such as dracunculiasis, poliomyelitis, malaria, measles, and rubella, as well as for salt iodization and the enrichment of flour with iron and folic acid. The World Health Organization supports Turkmenistan’s position on maternal and child health, assisting in the development of national strategies and action plans for the protection of children and adolescents. In addition, to eradicate the spread of tuberculosis worldwide by 2035, the WHO and Turkmenistan are successfully cooperating in the fight against tuberculosis,” emphasized the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people wished the Head of State good health, longevity, success in great undertakings carried out for the happiness of the Turkmen people, and the prosperity of the country.
