Under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, a regular meeting of the Interagency Commission on Ensuring Turkmenistan’s Compliance with International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Obligations was held on February 23, 2026.
During the meeting, the Commission’s work for 2025 was summarized, and priority areas of activity for 2026 were identified.
A separate agenda item was the implementation of Turkmenistan’s “Roadmap” for cooperation with the International Labour Organization and the extension of its validity until the end of 2026.
In addition, the completion of the National Action Plan on human rights and the National Action Plan on gender equality in Turkmenistan for 2021–2025 was noted. Drafts of new national plans for 2026–2030 have been prepared, taking into account the recommendations of UN treaty bodies, the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the organizational improvement of the Commission’s activities, enhancing the quality of national report preparation, and further development of cooperation with international partners.
